JULIE HENIGAN
Julie Henigan, a Missouri native, first taught herself to play guitar at the age of twelve and later studied classical guitar and lute repertoire at Washington University in St. Louis. Her first guitar book, DADGAD Tuning, was published by Mel Bay in 1999. She has toured extensively in Britain, Ireland, and North America, performing traditional and original material, singing, and playing guitar, fiddle, lap dulcimer, and five-string banjo. She has lectured widely on traditional Irish and American music and has written about traditional music and culture for a variety of publications, including The Companion to Irish Traditional Music, Musical Traditions Magazine, and The Old-Time Herald. Julie has recorded one solo album (American Stranger, Waterbug 035) and is featured on Sean-Nos cois Locha (Clo Iar- Chonnachta CICD 162), an anthology of singers recorded at the traditional singing festival Sean-Nos Milwaukee.
