LAURIE HART
Laurie Hart is a fiddler from Ithaca in central New York State. She has been collecting and learning to play the music of Quebec ever since discovering it at the Champlain Valley Festival in Vermont in 1987 and has made many trips to Quebec to play music and do research. Laurie plays several other styles of fiddle music as well, notably Irish and Swedish, and has performed at contradances across the Northeastern U.S. and numerous festivals, including the Dance Flurry and Old Songs Festivals in Albany, New York, and the Festival Memoire et Racines in Joliette, Quebec. Her 1992 recording Gravity Hill, with guitarist William Coulter, contains a mix of Irish, Scottish, and Quebecois tunes.
