Pete Pardee

Pete Pardee was born in Appleton, Wisconsin but soon became a resident of California. He grew up on the San Francisco peninsula, and began playing the five string banjo in 1962 after being captivated by Dave Guard's playing with the Kingston Trio. As his knowledge of the banjo grew, he became interested in playing bluegrass music as well as folk and urban styles. Peter began to teach banjo as early as 1965. By 1973, he taught, worked at music theory, and lots of transcriptions. By the 1980's, Peter wrote books and was the subject of articles for Banjo Newsletter and Frets. Eventually, Pete began a serious effort at arranging classical music for the banjo, gravitating to the music of J. S. Bach. He has arranged and performs over 80 works transcribed from Bach's lute, violin, cello and keyboard music. He continues to play music from all historical genres and maintains a keen interest in all banjo music and lore. Peter and his wife Eda live in Mi Wuk Village in California's central Sierra Nevada mountains. Visit my website: www.thebanjoman.com
