Frank LevinFrank Levin is a composer and piano teacher based in San Francisco, where he received much of his training, most importantly in composition with Sol Joseph at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.Today he composes primarily piano works for the use of his own and other students. In addition he has written dozens of songs and co-authored two full-length musical plays. His award-winning San Francisco Christmas ballad "Never a White Christmas" and a number of other original holiday songs were recorded by the noted cabaret artist, Weslia Whitfield. He is also composer for the successful traveling children's theatre company, L'eau Theque Productions. In 1995 and 1997, his original teaching music for the piano won first and second prize in the Music Teachers Association of California State Contest for "Composers Today." His music is characterized by strong, appealing melodies, and rich harmonies with a contemporary flavor. In addition to teaching and composing, he works intermittently as an arranger, accompanist and cocktail pianist, and is an active member in the San Francisco Branch of the Music Teachers' Association of California. His original piano compositions are published by Schaum, Boston, and the Willis Music companies. |
