The Cafe Waltzby Steve SmithDownload this Article.
The Cafe Waltz is an example of a waltz that is very effective when performed
with an all downstroke approach for uniformity of sound. Another feature of this tune is
the melodic use of arpeggios in open and closed positions throughout the piece over Gmin.,
G7, Cmaj., Cmin.,D7 ,D7b9 and A7b5 chords. The Cafe Waltz may be played with a bit of
swingto give a bit of gypsy feel. The form is (AABA1). A1 is simply the A part played an
octave higher. This tune can be heard on the cd Desert Night dn343 by Steve Smith.
