This is the first book of a comprehensive five-volume series for piano which offers Bach aficiandos and serious students a select collection of pieces chosen for their variety and charm. An interesting, concise biography of Bach illustrated with photos of his birthplace in Eisenach, Germany and the St. Thomas School in Leipzig where he died sets the mood for playing the pieces he composed. A chronology of Bach's life and a descriptive table of ornamentation is also included. Arranged progressively in order of difficulty, Book One begins with one of Bach's easiest composition, the Minuet in G. This followed by selections from the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach; the Notebook for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach; Twelve Little Preludes for Beginners; and Gavotte and Musette from English Suite No. 3.
