A beautiful minor key song by Scottish poet, Robert Tannahill (1874), that has become popular with contemporary Scottish musicians. The lyrics (in Scottish dialect) describe a courtship visit on a stormy night. The arrangement has 3 verses, with varying expanded left hand chord patterns on each verse. The haunting, syncopated melody has a few simple ornaments and moves to the high octave on the last verse.
