An old ballad from northern Scotland that was featured in Max Bruch's (1880) "Scottish Fantasia” violin concerto. The arrangement of this gorgeous melody includes a few Scottish snaps and builds to a climax in the second verse with octaves in the melody. The left hand plays stately chords and arpeggios that reach up to a 10th. It sounds best played slowly and expressively.
