Theme and Variations for two guitars. These variations for two guitars do not limit themselves to a mere extension of classical variation techniques with modern melodic and harmonic devices that have their origin in references from literary texts. Inspired by a poem by Ruth Brosette, the variations represent, by the use of an austere theme joined with tone pictures derived from the text, the transformation of the objective into the sensual as the individual variations progress.
Theme: Fantasy - A Life structured plainly without fantasy: red, yellow, blue
Variation I: Total emptiness, straightforward, logical. Dreamless reality.
Variation II: Fantasy. Expanding the primary colors into a whole palette; a symphony of shades, an ocean of bright fireworks. Pastel colors, bright colors, floating over like clouds, washing like a bath under a waterfall.
Variation III: To be able to dream: Rainbow tied in loops - and then the fear that the primary colors would be lost...
