This amazing piece lives up to the title. Fire-flies are lightning bugs that delight the senses. This piece must be played very fast using the fingering marked to enable the pianist to play thirds throughout most of the piece with the right hand. The first four pages are in A minor then after a chromatic run with a retard, the piece continues in the key of A major for several pages then returns to A minor for the beautiful ending.
