Pachelbel (pronounced POCK-el-bell) produced much beautiful music in the Baroque period. This is one of the most requested processionals for weddings.
If there is a melody instrument, such as flute or violin, the player may start the melody (starting measure 5) four measures behind the harp.
Because the Canon in D is structured around a short four-measure harmonic scheme, it is perfect for timing the music to fit the wedding party's progress down the aisle. No one must fidget for long at the end of the procession while the musicians finish playing. Simply conclude the piece at the nearest phrase ending on a D chord or arpeggio.
