Star EdwardsStar Edwards is well known for her eclectic harp style, playing for events ranging from the Jewish-Islamic Cultural Festival and Irish Festivals to Boulder's Bluegrass and Folk Festival. She performed twice with the Chieftains in concert in January 2003. Adding to her love of ethnic music, Star has been involved with an International folk dance group for 18 years. She is married to a rock and roll musician, which further expands her musical perspective. Recently her world-folk trio with mandolin, harp and percussion, toured Colorado. In 1983 she founded the Colorado Folk Harp society, and more recently directed and arranged music for the Celtic Harp Orchestra. Star has been responsible for bringing the presence of the Celtic harp to many festivals, such as the Scottish Highland Games and the Irish Festival in Denver since 1985, and continues to judge harp competitions. Star appeared on an episode of the Perry Mason TV show, The Case of the Skin Deep Scandal, and in the movie, The Princess and the Dwarf, as well as having provided music for two TV series. She has since performed at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Stanley Hotel Fine Art Concerts series, Colorado's KVOD's Down to Earth Radio Show and California's KNRY Radio 2000 for a one hour interview. Raised on a small island in Florida called Redington Beach, Star taught herself guitar. In 1976 she relocated to Denver and learned the Celtic harp and the Appalachian dulcimer. She now teaches the harp at the Swallow Hill Music School and through Star Edwards' Celtic Harp Studios. Star is also known for her unique artwork and original book designs.
