JOSEP ORIOL SANA CAMPOY
Oriol Sana is one of the most versatile and prolific violinists of his generation. He combines his career as an active musician with teaching and research at some of Barcelona Spain's most prestigious musical institutions. In addition, he is the director of the annual Bellaterra Fiddle Camp in nearby Bellaterra, Spain which offers a professional-level weekend workshop and performance opportunity for adults and juniors.
His musical studies include a Bachelor's Degree at the Berklee College of Music (Cum Laude), a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at the Escola Superior de M�sica de Catalunya, a Masters in Musicology and Musical Education at the Universitat Aut�noma de Barcelona (UAB), and a PhD in Art History and Musicology (Cum Laude), also at the UAB. He has studied with such prestigious teachers as Matt Glaser, Mimi Robson, John Blake, and Darol Anger.
Oriol has played and performed extensively both at home in Catalonia and abroad, primarily focusing on modern music with jazz groups like the Virus String Quartet and the Folkincats, and in duos with pianist/composer Albert Guinovart, Gypsy jazz guitarist Albert Bello and bluegrass fiddler, Casey Driessen. He also plays in several symphonic orchestras as a classical musician.
Oriol has made over 50 recordings with such renowned companies as Harmonia Mundi and Warner, garnering nominations from the Max Performing Arts Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards.
