WILL MARSHALL
Based in the Kingdom of Fife in southeast Scotland, Will Marshall is a freelance musical director, composer, musician, and tutor. With a diverse musical pedigree, Will has worked in several different media. For many years, he has been the arranger and musical director for the Eden Court Theatre (Inverness) and their pantomime season. He has also been featured in numerous musical theater shows and is the resident musician for Hebridean Island Cruises. As a composer and arranger, Will's music has appeared in ads for Visit Scotland, British regional airline Flybe, and television programs including The South Bank Show and Ladies of London on ITV2. Traditional music has been an important aspect of his musical life from a young age, particularly since studying with versatile Scottish accordionist, Ian Muir. After success in a major accordion competition, Will was featured in a BBC studio session for "Take the Floor," the longest-running radio show in Scotland. Will has continued to develop his musical skills and today enjoys working on different studio, theater, and live session productions. Highlights include "Live with Chris Evans" on BBC Radio 2, celebrating the arrival of the Olympic flame in the UK with the National Youth Choir of Scotland (ITV), and an appearance on the television series "This September" on Channel 5. There were also several trips to London for performances related to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, including playing at the stylish meeting and event space, Scotland House for Visit Scotland, and at the ceremony at the Victoria and Albert Museum in which the University of Edinburgh presented former footballer Pele, "The Olympian of the Century," with an honorary degree. As a tutor, Will has created Learn the Accordion, an online platform to help students develop their technique through one-to-one lessons; he also teaches for the traditional arts and music organization, Feis Rois, and contributes to the Angus Council in different social service projects.
