Jean Denney picked up her first violin in a 4th grade public school classroom and has had one in her hands ever since. After earning a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Performance studying with violinist Will Schwartz at Colorado State University, she began a life-long career of teaching and orchestral performance. Her teaching and administrative duties have included diverse positions ranging from the inner-city high schools in Indianapolis to the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Colorado, with many stops in between. Her work with adult amateur players has created a love and passion for teaching adults that has fueled the writing of this method book. As a violinist, Jean Denney has been fortunate to play in professional orchestras since the age of 20. She currently holds positions as both violinist and Personnel Manager of the Fort Collins Symphony and continues to teach adult students in her private studio in Estes Park, Colorado.
