            Drew Beisswenger first became interested in fiddle music as  a teenager in Nashville, Tennessee, in the 1970s.  After  studying various fiddles styles as a student in the  Appalachian Music Program at Warren Wilson College, he  went on to earn degrees in folklore and ethnomusicology,  eventually earning his Ph.D. at the University of Memphis.   He has worked as a librarian for over 30 years, primarily as a  music librarian and music instructor at Missouri State  University and the University of Arkansas.  His publications  include a book about West Virginia fiddler Melvin Wine and  a large research guide to North American fiddle music, and  he has co-authored books about the fiddle music traditions  of the Appalachians, the Ozarks, and the Sliabh Luachra  region of Ireland.
