CHRISTOPHER BUZZELLI
Chris Buzzelli has been called "a gifted guitarist who deserves to be better known" by Adrian Ingram in Just Jazz Guitar magazine. Jim Fisch, of 20th Century Guitar, called his first CD, "What Goes Around", "...superb," while Dave McElfresh, of Cadence magazine said he was "...equally skillful on electric and nylon string guitar, with his exceptional sense of melody and harmony". A graduate of the University of North Texas, Buzzelli was a recipient of scholarships in both jazz and classical guitar and a member of the prestigious One O'clock Lab Band. His teachers have included Jack Petersen, Dennis Sandole, Joe Pass, Alice Artzt, and Sharon Isbin. He has served on the faculties of Bowling Green State University and the University of Michigan. He has written articles for Jazz Educators Journal, Just Jazz Guitar, and American String Teacher, and has several transcribed solos, arrangements, and guitar ensemble compositions published by Mel Bay Publications. He has recorded for several different labels as both a leader and a sideman. An active performer, Buzzelli has performed with artists such as Bucky Pizzarelli, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Cal Collins, Mike Stern, Tal Farlow, Jack Wilkins, Randy Johnston, Joshua Breakstone, Mark Elf, Frank Vignola and Gene Bertoncini, and has performed in some nationally recognized venues including the Classic American Guitar Show in Long Island, New York and the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society event held each summer in Nashville.
