ALAN SCHECHNER
Alan Schechner has been playing the drums since the age of eleven. He formally studied music from junior high through college where he earned an A. A. degree in music. In addition, he took sixteen years of private lessons in technique, reading, soloing, and multiple musical styles from teaching legend Chuck Brown. This prepared him for live and studio work in numerous pop, rock, jazz, world, top-40, and R&B bands (including several years with 'Mr. Big' lead vocalist Eric Martin). In addition, he has played drums in almost every musical theater production from Annie to West Side Story. Alan also won first place in the north-west region of the United States Guitar Center Drum-Off competition and had the honor of performing at the national finals at The House of Blues opening up for Terry Bozzio, Dennis Chambers, and Simon Phillips. Alan is a dedicated educator (his students include Steve Vai's drumming sensation, Jeremy Colson) and teaches privately at The Magic Flute and A Drummer's Tradition in San Rafael, California.
