DAWN L RICHARDSON
Dawn Richards loves to play and teach drums and encourages all who are interested to give drumming a try. She enjoys creating materials for drummers of all ages and levels with a focus on technique, creativity, and fun. She has various drum method books published by Mel Bay Publications including Building Blocks of Rock; Fill Workbook; Block Rockin' Beats; Kid's Rock Drum Method; Beginning Rock Drum Chart. Dawn has toured with the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Tracy Chapman and was a member of the band 4 Non Blondes and played on the hit song "What's Up". Dawn continues to teach private lessons both in-person and online and currently performs with the dynamic and talented singer/songwriter Shana Morrison She holds her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Percussion from Cal State Los Angeles where she studied privately with Raynor Carroll - (retired) principal percussionist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Dawn has also studied drum kit/percussion with Jim Volpe, Jim Vessiny, Steve Houghton, and Greg Goodall. Dawn currently lives in San Francisco where she teaches and continues to perform and record. Dawn is endorsed by Pacific Drums/Drum Workshop, Zildjian Cymbals, and Vic Firth Sticks.
