SUSAN ENGLE
Susan Engle had a long, successful career as a music educator in private, public and university level institutions. While working part-time at Hartt School of Music at The University of Hartford, she was named a Teacher of the Year in West Hartford, CT, Public Schools and had her classes featured in a Ford Foundation film. She holds a MM Degree in Music Theory from Indiana University, where she also studied composition under noted Panamanian composer, Roque Cordero. As a teacher, she incorporated many original compositions and arrangements into her classes and student ensembles. Her longtime love of playing string instruments in orchestra and chamber music led to her collaboration with co-author Peggy Spencer to adapt many two-part keyboard works of J. S. Bach to Duets for Two Violins, Violas and Cellos. These books, published by Mel Bay, have been a welcome addition to the string repertoire. Now retired, Susan continues to make music actively.
