BILL WOODS
Multi-instrumentalist Bill Woods is primarily a bodhran player who has found a niche as a performer, teacher, studio musician, and author. He began performing on the bodhran in the 1980s and has played with a Seattle-based band called Keltoi for decades. With his long experience of playing in Celtic bands, he was exposed to the wonderful slow airs of Ireland and Scotland, which he loves to play on penny whistle and accordion.
Bill has played bodhran on recordings as varied as heavy metal, classical, new age, pop, and improvisational music as well as traditional Irish and Scottish music. He has taught at the Northwest Folklife Festival and the Seattle World Rhythm Festival for many years and regularly presents bodhran workshops in Seattle. His other Mel Bay Publications books include: Bodhran: The Basics, Bodhran: Beyond the Basics, Playing the Frame Drum, The Rhythm Encyclopedia and Celtic Airs.
