THE DEFIBULATORS
The DefibulatorS are a country band from New York City. That is, depending on how you define the words "country" "from" or even "New York City." Originally transplanted from the states of Texas, California, and New Jersey, the band's roots can be traced to a local BBQ restaurant in the city, where founding members found a shared obsession with bourbon, brisket, and classic country music. Cutting their teeth on early Bluegrass, Western Swing, Rockabilly, and Honky-Tonk, they landed their first gig, opening for a punk band in an East Village tiki bar. After two years of relentless gigging in NYC, the band released their debut album, Corn Money in 2009 and hit the road hard, touring across the US and Europe. Their sonic buckshot is a mix of sawing fiddle, thick telecaster twang, howling harmonica, a driving rhythm section of upright bass, drums, & washboard, all supporting striking vocal harmonies and surreal lyrics that spin big-rig tales of deception, debauchery, depleted bank accounts, domestic dilemmas, fanaticism, vintage firearms, biological anomalies and, airline intoxication. The Defibulators have self-published their coloring book and have licensed and recorded songs for film and TV including NFL Films, The Dry Land, Seven Days in Utopia, The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, Skiptracers, I Just Want My Pants Back, and Roadtrip Nation. They can often be found serving as the house band for the long-running comedic event, The Rejection Show, at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NYC. When not on the road together, The Defibulators reside in individual, non-mobile homes in Hoboken, Harlem, and Brooklyn. The Defibulators are: Bryan Jennings (bug): Vocals, Banjo, Acoustic Guitar Erin Brueggemann (bru): Vocals, Percussion Chris Hartway (roadblock): Lead Guitar Justin Smith (the giant fiddler): Fiddle Mike Riddleberger (riddles): Drums Michael Ginsberg (metalbelly): Washboard, Harmonica, Percussion
