THORSTEN PLATH
Thorsten Plath, born in 1961, is one of the most sought-after guitarists in the north of Germany. His diverse musical resume has led him through many genres of music. For example, he played modern operas with the Bremen Philharmonic, diverse productions with the NDR Radio Philharmonic and sat in the orchestra pit in the St Pauli Theatre in Hamburg and in the playhouse in Hannover for diverse Brecht productions. In the 90s, he toured through Germany with the jazz duo 'Take Two' and this resulted in three CD releases. He has played jazz with Florian Poser, Frank Itt, the American guitarist John Stowell and many more. At the moment, he plays solo under the name 'Guijaygoo' as an electric and loop musician. Most recently, his children's musical 'Ohne Fups lauft nix' (2011), which he worked on as a freelance composer, premiered in Flensburg. As a contracted composer, he works for film and advertising agencies. He has written 4 guitar books, distributed by the AMA Publishing House. He was a workshop lecturer at the University for Music in Hamburg, has been lecturing at the jazz workshop 'Jazzit' for 10 years and has also taught for many years at the University for the Arts and the Music School in Bremen. In 2012, he was involved for the first time in the organization of the Youth Festival 'Rock deine Stadt'.
