MARIO GAETANO
Mario Gaetano is currently an Associate Professor of Music at Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, North Carolina, where he teaches studio percussion, percussion ensemble, percussion methods, and jazz ensemble. He holds degrees from the State University of New York at Potsdam, East Carolina University, and the University of Memphis. He has taught instrumental and vocal music in the public schools of New York and Virginia. An authority on percussion pedagogy and literature, Dr. Gaetano has written numerous scholarly articles for a variety of national and international journals. He is also an accomplished composer and arranger of percussion music and has numerous published works to his credit that are performed regularly at schools and universities throughout the United States and abroad. He has performed with the North Carolina Symphony and the Memphis Symphony and is currently a member of the Asheville Symphony. He is also an active recitalist, having performed in many U.S. states. He currently serves as president of the North Carolina chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
