            AL PETTEWAY The consummate musician and entertainer,  guitarist Al Petteway is one of the world's most  accomplished finger-style soloists and accompanists. His  signature sound is regularly featured on stage and in the  studio with top folk artists including Tom Paxton, Cheryl  Wheeler, Jonathan Edwards, The Smith Sisters, Debi Smith,  Maggie Sansone, Grace Griffith, Susan Graham White,  Bonnie Rideout, Abby Newton, and duo partner Amy White.  The contemporary, Celtic-inspired original instrumentals and  arrangements of traditional tunes featured on his own  critically acclaimed recordings appeal to listeners of all ages  and musical tastes while his on-stage warmth and charm  never fail to delight audiences at every performance. A  recent interview with Noah Adams on NPR's "All Things  Considered" generated more tape requests than any other  music segment ever done on the program. He has won  numerous awards from the Washington Area Music  Association, was the recipient of the 1997 Maryland State  Arts Council Individual Artist Award for Music Composition,  and is an instructor and Guitar Week coordinator for The  Swannanoa Gathering in Asheville, N.C.
