LOIS HORNBOSTEL
Over the past 20 years Lois Hombostel has become recognized as one of the most influential mountain dulcimer players in the U.S. Her ability to play and teach many musical styles shines through in her books. Her first recording, Vive le Dulcimer, which contained many selections from her Mel Bay book ANTHOLOGY FOR THE FRETTED DULCIMER, was a finalist for an "INDIE" Award in the World Music Category. As accomplished in her teaching as in her musicianship, Lois has taught over 12,000 school children the basics of dulcimer playing and is the director of the Appalachian State University Dulcimer Playing Workshop, the largest adult dulcimer "camp" in the country.
