MARK JOHNSTONE
Mark Johnstone, a classical guitarist, started playing guitar in the summer of 1986 and gave his first performance in the spring of the following year. Since that performance, he has won many guitar competitions, scholarships, and awards, including membership in the IK Music Honors Society, and has given performances throughout the United States and Europe. Mr. Johnstone holds bachelor's degrees in Guitar Performance and American History from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the fall of 1997, he completed the course requirements for a master's degree in Guitar Performance at the University of North Texas. Mark currently studies theorbo (a large lute from the 17th century) and 19th-century guitar technique with Pat O'Brien in New York City and is employed as a guitarist for St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. He also teaches guitar for The Preparatory Center for the Arts of Montclair State University.
