TANJA MIRIC
Tanja Miric, native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been playing the guitar for over two decades. She received a B.M. from Mississippi College, M.M. from Southern Methodist University and D.M.A. from University of Minnesota. Dr. Miric received numerous awards for her guitar playing and academic excellence. She was honored as a presidential scholar and recipient of the B. G. Walden Memorial Scholarship and is included in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Among her musical achievements are first place awards from the Mississippi Music Teachers Association, Mississippi Federated Music Club and Mississippi Guitar Festival competitions. In addition, as a member of Duo Miric she won the college duo and overall college division at the University of Texas at Brownsville Ensemble Festival, 2006. Duo Miric performed for and were the featured artist in residence for the St. Louis Classical Guitar Society. Also, the duo was selected to perform at the Guitar Foundation of America Ensemble Showcase, Louisville, KY, Fort Worth Guitar Festival (TX), and Schubert Club Courtroom Concert series (Saint Paul, MN). Currently, Dr. Miric is an adjunct professor at Belhaven University, Jackson, Mississippi where she teaches guitar lessons and classes, guitar ensemble, world music, and music theory.
