RENATA BRATT
Cellist and clinician Renata Bratt is a founding member of the American String Teachers Association Alternative String Styles Steering Committee. She has taught classical styles, jazz improvisational and fiddling techniques at national string workshops for children and adults (including the Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School, the Mancini Institute, the Mark O'Connor String Conference, Wintergrass Kids Academy, The New Directions Cello Festival, IAJE, ASTA, MENC and Suzuki institutes and conferences).
She has been an invited recitalist at the Spanish Embassy in Rome, and is a past president of the Suzuki Music Association of California. In addition to concertizing with various classical, jazz, and fiddle groups, Ms. Bratt has also performed as a backup musician for such luminaries as Liz Carroll, Darol Anger, Alasdair Fraser, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, David Sanborn, Lyle Lovett, and Dionne Warwick.
Rolling Stone magazine dubbed her an "ace performer" for her recording and touring work with alternative rocker Cindy Lee Berryhill's Garage Orchestra. Ms. Bratt received her Ph.D. in Music from the University of California at San Diego.
