JAY HUNGERFORD
Jay Hungerford is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a degree in Music Education. He has taught at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, Meramec College, and Fontbonne College and has been a member of the jazz faculty at Webster University in St. Louis for over 20 years. He currently travels the jazz festival circuit with several west coast bands. Other performance credits include Herb Ellis, Buddy Defranco, Eddie Higgins, Roger Williams, Maynard Ferguson, Scott Hamilton, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana, Warren Vache', Mike Vax, and Bobby Shew. Jay performs with the St. Louis Symphony "Pops" concerts, and the Muny Orchestra during the summer. He can be heard on numerous contemporary Christian recordings. His most recent CD, The Keys to the City, includes 14 of the top jazz pianists in St. Louis in a duo format. Jay also plays bass full-time at Grace Church in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Jay plays a '64 Fender Jazz Bass, a Yamaha BB5000A 5-string, a Yamaha Silent bass, and an early John Juzek upright bass.
